Two of the most common questions people ask nowadays is, “What is matcha?” and “Wait, is maca different than matcha?” We want to clear up this mass confusion on matcha and maca because we were all once in your boat.
Matcha
- What is it?
- Matcha is a special kind of green tea from Japan. Bright green in color, matcha is finely ground and isn’t steeped like other teas; its actually eaten. It is also often referred to as “liquid meditation.”
- Why eat it?
- Matcha is full of naturally occurring antioxidants and amino acids; roughly 20 times those of regular green tea. Drinking matcha has been shown to result in better concentration, weight loss, fresher breath, bolstered immunity and an elevated mood. Although many believe matcha contains a lot of caffeine, it actually only contains about the same as a third of one cup of coffee. Matcha will not make you “wired.” It actually gives you the ability to focus and be productive over an extended period of time without the jitteriness you get from caffeine.
